Overview

Astro Wars II: Battle in Galaxy is a space shoot-em-up sequel that reuses a lot of the same graphics and gameplay as the original Astro Wars. You control a rocket that moves back and forth along the bottom of the screen, and can shoot forwards at aliens to complete levels. As in the first game, each level consists of two stages. The first stage is to fight off a mother-ship with a horde of smaller vessels, while the second is to defeat the mother-ship. The levels then repeat until you run out of lives. Your ship and the alien mother-ship appear to be identical to the first game, but other details differ. The first stage in this game features a vast array of swooping and bombing aliens, closer to Galaxian instead of the army of para-troops that moved down the screen in Space Invaders style from the first game. The second stage has the mother-ship spewing out zig-zagging lines of ships to attack you instead of individual erratically moving missiles.
