Overview

JumpStart Math for Kindergartners (released in the UK as Jump Ahead Starting Maths) is an educational game that teaches math to students in kindergarten. It focuses on eight concepts based on the US National Council of Teachers of Mathematics standards and major state frameworks. The game revolves around the rabbit Hopsalot and his adventure in the clouds. There different types of activities can be accessed: recognizing shapes and numbers, sorting and data analysis, logic and problem-solving, counting, addition, subtraction, sequences and patterns, and bake cupcakes, blow up balloons, create wrapping paper, ride rainbow slides and measuring. The main goal is to plan a birthday surprise party for Guthy the Giant. The party is started when 100 candles have been collected, earned through the activities. Activities are grouped based on four islands: Balloon Island, Cake Island, Present Island and Party Hat Island. Teachers have access to a tracking and monitoring system to keep track of each student's process and adjust the difficulty if needed. Remedial instruction is also provided, as well as printable workbook activities. The software acts as a sister program to JumpStart Kindergarten and JumpStart Reading for Kindergarten that focus on different skills but for the same target audience.
