Overview

Galaxy Raiders is a single-player, 1st-person space shooter for the BBC Micro. The player has joined the elite band of Galaxy Raiders of the Terran Federation. Played from a 1st-person perspective, the player attempts to shoot and destroy the enemy spaceships of the Evil Arian Empire. The player chooses from four ranks, or difficulty levels, of game play. The enemies have three types of Arian ships: fighters, cruisers, and carriers. The galaxy is separated into a 10 x 9 galaxy, and the player has access to a map which shows the location of space bases and enemy spaceships. The player can hyperspace between these zones. When in the same zone as an enemy ship, the enemy ship will try to escape, and the player can use their tracking radar to find it and destroy it. The player is armed with slow moving missiles and fast moving lasers. The player has limited energy which is used by firing their lasers, accelerating, and jumping into hyperspace. Energy is also drained by getting shot or running into asteroids. Energy can be restored at star bases. Enemy ships will try to destroy the player's star bases. The goal is to destroy all enemy ships.
