Cthulhu Saves the World

The player takes on the role of Cthulhu (from H.P. Lovecraft's mythos) spreading insanity to all those opposing him. The story starts with Cthulhu suffering a curse sealing his powers. To remove the curse he must become a true hero and save the world. Afterwards he can continue with his business and destroy it as was his original plan.

Cthulhu Saves the World is a parody of older RPGs from the 8 bit and 16 bit era. Gameplay is reminiscent of early Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games with a top-down world view and turn-based combat mechanics. The game features random enemy encounters, boss fights, and multiple party members. Character development is a branching system: players pick from two choices which change each level up.
