Gettysburg: Multimedia Battle Simulation

Overview

The battle of Gettysburg was one of the most important battles in the American Civil War. In this game, you either take the role of General Lee of the Confederate Army or General Meade of the Union Army.

You watch the course of the battle with either the ordnance map (where you can see the front lines and brigades as symbols) or the terrain map. There are three different units: Infantry, cavalry and artillery. If you select a unit, the game gives you a lot of information, e.g. morale, exhaustion or even anecdotes from the real Civil War.

Movement or combat orders are all issued with the mouse. After combat calculations, you are notified about the losses - if desired even permanent on the map screen, which always shows the whole battle field and can't be zoomed in.

Additionally, there is a second game mode where you can pursue the whole real battle. There are comments by historians and 67 movie clips from the 1993 movie Gettysburg.
