Overview
Taiheiyou no Arashi 2: Shippuu no Moudou is a World War 2 naval strategy simulation game in which the player takes control of the Japanese Imperial Navy in the Pacific Theater. The game includes a recreation of the full Pacific War from 1941 to 1945 as the main "Grand Campaign", as well a seven shorter fictional "what-if" scenarios. It gives the player control over all aspects of Japanese military action during the war, including both air and sea forces, and the goal is to occupy a certain number of Allied bases without allowing too many Japanese bases — or Tokyo itself — to be captured.
The game proceeds in a turn-based fashion, with each turn representing one day and each scenario having a specific set turn limit. During each turn, the player can issue commands to bases and ships, check on various statistics and other information, and perform actions related to other aspects including military manufacturing, weapons development, and foreign affairs.
The Sega Saturn port of the game adds archival video and animated CG clips to a gallery and during battles, but otherwise plays the same as the computer version.
