Knightmare (Romik Software)

This next game could be your last! Knightmare! is a 1-player arcade game for the Commodore 64.

The player controls Sir Legless, a knight tasked with rescuing King Eric and and the other knights imprisoned by the Wizard Anthrax. The player can move in all directions and fires directly forwards. At the beginning of each game the player visits the armoury, and can put points towards crossbow, armor, or shield to modify their character.

The game world is divided into 80 rooms, and in each area enemies rise up from below the ground and attack the player. The player gathers special keys and items which can be used to open particular doors or kill specific enemies. They must also gather a variety of treasures along the way. The player starts with 3 lives, and each life starts with limited energy which is drained by touching walls or enemies.
