Overview

Microzine is an educational disk-based magazine published by Scholastic between 1983 and 1992. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. The final issue no. 40 contains: Computer Stuff: Microzine* data disk initiation Exploring Animal Adaptions: the player tests different eyespots on moths to see how successful they are warding off predators. Letter from the Editor: information about this issue of Microzine Math Mall: a simplified version of Math Shop, where the player must travel to 3 different stores and quickly answer math questions. At the stores, the player must calculate how many hours to work to make a certain amount of money, sell length of track from two different types, or convert days to weeks. The player must act quickly, because if the line in a store becomes too long, customers become frustrated and leave. Fifty angry customers, and it's game over. Monitor Mystery: The Case of the Destroyed Dunker: Someone has destroyed the school's dunking booth before the upcoming carnival. The player must solve the mystery and answer questions derived from a short story and picture. The Great Pawnee Buffalo Hunt: As a member of the Pawnee nation, the player has now come of age to join in the yearly buffalo hunt. After falling behind the main hunting party, the player must join their friend Tiny Dog to reach the hunting grounds. The player has a guide of other Indian nations, and must read about and correctly identify other bands upon encountering them on the plains. Along the way, the player must avoid hostile tribes, follow the Pawnee creed, and trade with friendly nations. If the player is successful, they can successfully join the buffalo hunt and earn their new name.
