SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech

SteamWorld Quest is a card-battling RPG in the SteamWorld series. As with most other games in the series, it is the first of its genre, both as a traditional RPG and as a card battler. The game takes place in a traditional medieval fantasy setting, though all would-be human characters are instead SteamWorld's steam-powered robots. The player follows a group of three friends, Armilly (the knight), Copernica (the mage), and Galleo (the healer) as they traverse across the world and different biomes to meet new friends that they add to their party and stop the evil Dark Lord.

SteamWorld Quest relies on traditional JRPG mechanics, including a party of characters each with their own stats (strength, magic, and health) that increase as characters gain XP from battles and level up, an inventory system, a system of attack types (fire, ice, electricity, physical, and arcane) that have different weakness/strengths against each other, and and turn-based battles against sets of enemies on a dedicated battle screen. More unique, however, is the use of cards to manage all characters' attacks, and a systems of "Gears" that are granted in battle by playing basic attack cards, allowing the player to use more powerful cards later in the battle which spend the collected Gears.
