Overview
New Rally-X is a top-down maze-driving game and an updated version of Rally-X. The player controls a blue racing car through a scrolling network of roads, collecting every flag while avoiding red enemy cars and stationary boulders. The car moves through the maze in four directions, and contact with an enemy or rock costs one life. A radar display shows the positions of the player, the remaining flags, and nearby opponents.
Each round contains ten flags: eight ordinary flags, one Special Flag, and one Lucky Flag. The value of the flags increases according to the order in which they are collected. Picking up the Special Flag doubles the value of every flag collected afterward for the remainder of the round, rewarding players who locate it early. The Lucky Flag instead awards a bonus based on the amount of fuel remaining.
