Ponpoko

Ponpoko is a fixed screen platform game and has the player control a Tanuki traversing around a pattern, walking and jumping on platforms, climbing ladders, dodging enemy caterpillars and collecting foodstuffs.

The player has a limited time to complete the pattern before the Tanuki's hunger level drops down to starvation. The pattern is complete when all foodstuffs are collected. There are also mystery pots which may contain either a bonus item or a deadly snake. Each new pattern adds more enemies and a more difficult layout. The Tanuki dies when making contact with an enemy, falling down a great height or from starvation.
