Overview
Mariko Kayano is a student at Jigen High School, a remote academy for troubled youths, who was sent there after she started seeing visions. Two strangers, Ran Mashimo and Cher Mulligan, show up at the school in the guise of transfer students, and soon the dark secret of the school begins to make itself known: the school's founder and headmaster, Shogen Kuji, is in fact a pawn of interdimensional parasitic creatures bent on consuming and destroying humanity, and many people at the school have already been infected and consumed.
Dark Hunter: Ijigen Gakuen is a supernatural horror adventure game designed to help native Japanese-speakers learn and practice conversational English, part of Koei's English Dream series. The game mostly progresses as linear animated cutscenes, but occasionally is interrupted for short reaction minigames or dialogue choices. After a short prologue, the player is given the choice of three characters; all three scenarios must be completed to reach the final chapter. This release includes the first half of the story, with the conclusion released separately two months later. As a language teaching tool, the game offers full English and Japanese for both voiced dialogue and subtitles, as well as a dictionary function and the ability to replay any previously-viewed scene.
