Overview
Nile-gawa no Yoake ("Dawn on the Nile River") is a city-building simulation game with war strategy elements in which the player takes the role of a Pharaoh in ancient Egypt. Starting in the capital of Memphis, the player must build the city up not just in its buildings and infrastructure, but also in its culture and military might. Population, taxes, and cultural development all determine what structures and actions are allowed, and buildings will also decay over time and must be repaired.
War can be waged with neighboring regions, and defeating them will add their territory to your own. Battles take place in real-time with the player directly issuing commands to their army. The ultimate goal of the game is to unify the entirety of the Mediterranean under your Pharaoh's rule. If the Pharaoh dies, their successor will continue their rule, though this can only happen a certain number of times before the game is over.
