Overview

A high-school student named Noboru has a curious ability: when he dreams, he appears in a strange realm that seems almost to be as real as the waking world. Usually these travels vanish from his thoughts like any other dream, but one night he meets a mysterious woman who seems to recognize him and tells him he must leave and never return. Thinking she looks familiar, he chases after her in hopes of learning more, but winds up waking up before he finds her. Together with his fairy companion Nirvana, Noboru decides to search for this woman and learn more about the strange realm he continues to find himself in. No-appointment Gals Olympos is a fantasy adventure game in which the player summons girls to fight on their behalf. The game is divided into two major parts. First are the adventure scenes, which take place in both the real world and the fantasy realm, where the player converses with other characters to progress the story — these are strictly linear and have no choices or branches where the player can affect the progression. The meat of the game is the summon & battle sequences, in which the player is shown a random selection of girls from the fantasy realm and must choose one to summon into a battle. When a battle starts, four cards each representing a girl are drawn and a time-of-day is randomly decided, and the player must choose who to bring into battle. Each girl has not only their stats, but also an individual schedule, the details of which are filled out in a separate screen as the player learns more about them, and time of day is important: summon someone who's asleep, and not only will they likely not be very effective in battle, but they probably won't be too happy to see you either! Summoning a girl will give you a glimpse into their backstory and move their individual story forward, and each girl has several story events and multiple endings. The battles themselves are quite simple: the only actions available are close-range and long-range attacks, defense, and an option to let the fighter decide the best move. Each girl also has their own experience level, and the player can assign stat points after a successful battle.
