Overview

For years, ships have competed peacefully for the Blue Ribbon. To win, it's very simple: you have to be the fastest in the USA - Great Britain Atlantic crossing. Now it's your turn to experience the thrill of a useless trophy that once haunted everyone's minds. It is even said that the Titanic sank while trying to conquer the precious ribbon. Join the France, the Normandie or the Queen Mary on the list of prestigious holders and record holders. The challenge is serious and goes far beyond the feat, economic benefits are also to be expected if you succeed in beating your illustrious predecessors. The record of three days and ten hours is possible. To do this, you have been entrusted with the Virgin Atlantic Challenger (oh, my!). It is a beautiful boat that looks nothing like the pre-war liners. You will be faced with a race against the elements, time and yourself. Any mistake, error or inattention can be costly in a sea as vast as the Atlantic where logs, tankers, whales and container ships rub shoulders with each other. You will have to calculate your course in order not to run out of gas. To do this, you can take advantage of the various information provided by the huge Virgin empire. This simulation will confront you with the adventure of Richard Drandson. The (relatively small) ship is divided into several parts: the helm, the chart table, the telex and the machinery. Using the keyboard or the joystick, you will maneuver the little character (R. Drandson?) who, alone, will have to lead the ship to a safe harbor. The animation and graphics are relatively disappointing, even if a serious effort has been made on the dashboard. You quickly realize that the Atlantic is much less safe than the Sun Highway. You have to know how to exploit the advantages of the electronics and especially the radar if you don't want to finish the cruise swimming or in the belly of a shark. Your servant suffering from seasickness, you will also have to start cooking, otherwise your reflexes as an old sea dog will be severely affected. Lovers of the sea and impossible challenges are spoiled. However, this simulation, despite its originality, suffers from a lack of graphics. Too bad, because I would have liked to win the blue ribbon with the little rubber bands there.
