Kira Kira: Rock 'n' Roll Show

Overview

Originally released as an adult visual novel for PC (Windows) under title Kira Kira, which once ported to PlayStation 2 removed the adult content and added Rock 'n' Roll Show subtitle. The PS2 release also includes additional characters and story elements to complement removal of adult scenes. The story revolves around Shikanosuke Maejima (前島 鹿之助), a student at Oubi Academy, who one day teams up with Kirari Shiino (椎野 きらり) and forms a rock band. The school festival is approaching, and they are determined to perform live.

The game doesn't use typical dialogue boxes, but instead displays the text and dialogues over the full, slightly dimmed, background image. For clear background picture, the dialogue text and dimmed effect can be toggled on and off. Depending on player's choices, the game will reach one of several different endings, as well as affect the ending song. Character animation is non-present, only different poses and facial expressions depict character's disposition, and the CG events are also present to more vividly emphasize certain key moments in the story. Voice-acting is fully present for non-playable characters during dialogues.
