Overview
Styx is a fixed screen shoot 'em up similar to Phoenix. The game consists of four screens each with different flying creatures that swirl around in different patterns. The player moves a laser base left and right and has to shoot down all the creatures to advance to the next screen. The enemies not only drop regular projectiles that the player has to dodge but also land mines. These sink below the surface and move back and forth, attacking the player from behind. To have these destroyed the player must kill a special green creature that appears at time. The player has as much as seven lives and when these are all used the game is over. An extra life is given at every 10,000 points scored.
