Overview
Garfield places the lazy orange cat in the middle of domestic chaos. Left alone in Jon Arbuckle’s house, Garfield’s peaceful nap is interrupted by Odie, the ever-enthusiastic dog. Garfield’s mission is to keep Odie out of trouble—and away from his food—while maintaining his own comfort.
The player controls Garfield as he moves between different positions inside the house using two directional buttons. Food bowls appear at the lower part of the screen, and Odie periodically races toward them from either side. The goal is to intercept Odie before he reaches the food, pressing the action button at the right moment to swat him away or block his path. Each successful defense earns points, while missing a charge from Odie costs a life.
As the game progresses, the pace increases: Odie moves faster, sometimes appearing in alternating directions to test timing and anticipation. When Garfield misses too many times, Odie empties the bowl and the game ends. Between rounds, the LCD display animates Garfield lounging smugly or dozing off, a small comic touch typical of Konami’s Game Watch releases.
