Overview
Home Alone adapts the 1990 Twentieth Century Fox film in which young Kevin McCallister defends his house from the bumbling burglars Harry and Marv. Left behind while his family travels for Christmas, Kevin uses his wits and improvised traps to keep the crooks from catching him inside the family home.
Players control Kevin as he navigates the rooms of the house, setting traps and evading the burglars. The D-pad moves Kevin left and right or lets him climb onto furniture to reach higher ground. The two action buttons—Climb and Trap—handle key mechanics:
Climb: Moves Kevin vertically to cabinets or shelves for safety or positioning.
Trap: Deploys booby traps that temporarily stun a burglar, buying time before the next attack.
Gameplay takes place on a single-room screen resembling a living area, with Harry and Marv advancing from both sides. The player must survive until the timer expires, symbolizing the family’s return home. If either burglar catches Kevin, the game ends. The top display shows the timer and Kevin’s remaining “lives,” depicted as portrait icons.
