Overview
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York follows Kevin McCallister as he once again finds himself separated from his family during the holidays. Stranded in New York City, Kevin must evade the bumbling burglars Harry and Marv, known as the “Wet Bandits,” while using his clever traps and quick thinking to stay out of their reach.
The handheld game presents a side-view of Kevin navigating the interior of a New York hotel. The player moves Kevin left or right using two directional buttons while pressing an action button to trigger defensive moves such as throwing objects or jumping between safe zones. Enemies—depicting Harry and Marv—appear from different positions on the screen, advancing toward Kevin along fixed LCD segments. Successfully dodging or stunning the burglars awards points, while being caught costs a life.
As play continues, enemy speed and attack frequency increase, demanding faster reactions. The game cycles through several short stages represented by different screen segments, each symbolizing a location from the film—hotel halls, rooftops, or the streets below. Simple beeps and buzzes punctuate hits and misses, and the game ends when Kevin loses all lives or reaches the score threshold that triggers a reset to the first level.
