Overview
Skate is a skateboarding simulation game developed by Electronic Arts. Players create a custom skater and explore the open-world city of San Vanelona, taking on a variety of skating challenges to build reputation, earn sponsors, and unlock new gear, clothing, and areas.
The game features two main career paths: Skateboard Mag and Thrasher. The Skateboard Mag path emphasizes professional progression through photo shoots, demos, contests, and video parts, while the Thrasher path focuses on rebellious street skating, downhill races, and evading security. Completing either path grants access to major events like the X Games and the massive Mega Ramp.
Gameplay centers around realistic control using the analog sticks to perform tricks, offering a physics-driven experience. Players can record their last moments of gameplay using the in-game replay editor, adjust camera angles, and save or share their best clips. Online play includes a variety of cooperative and competitive modes based on both single-player and exclusive multiplayer challenges.
Several real-world professional skaters are featured in the game, each with their likeness officially licensed.
