Overview
Captain Hook was released in April 1985 by Game Plan, Inc.. It is a rare, solid-state machine with a classic pirate theme and was one of the final games produced by the company before they ceased operations. The game was designed by Ed Cebula, with artwork created by Larry M. Blazek and Tom Schmelzer.
The machine is praised for its superb artwork—particularly the large treasure chest on the cabinet—and its "classic 80s" sound design that utilizes reverb and fade effects to enhance the experience. While it is often confused with the more common 1992 Hook pinball by Data East, this 1985 Game Plan version is much rarer, as only 450 units were ever produced, and it offers a more traditional early solid-state feel.
