Overview
Missile Attack is a 1-player arcade game for the BBC Micro.
For several years, delicate talks with an aggressive enemy have been underway. Finally, these negotiations broke down, and full-scale thermonuclear war has ensued. The player is the fearless commander of one of the country's many advanced ABM defense systems, tasked with defending the six main centers of culture.
The player controls three missile defense turrets at the bottom of the screen. Each turret has 10 missiles per round, and the shot location is determined by moving the targeting cursor. The goal is to destroy incoming enemy missiles before they destroy the six cities at the bottom of the screen. Missile turrets that are hit are removed from the remainder of the round, but are rebuilt on the next level. Destroyed cities are removed for the rest of the game. It's game over when all six cities are destroyed. The player receives a bonus for remaining missiles and cities at the end of each round
Enemy ships also appear: Semi-Intelligent Drones which weave their way down in a sinusoidal pattern and destroy a large area when they hit, and Unintelligent Support Vessels, which fly in a horizontal path and take no evasive action.
