Space Gambler

Overview

Space Gambler, released by Spanish manufacturer Playmatic in March 1978, is a solid-state pinball machine that blends space exploration with gambling themes. The game features two flippers, two pop bumpers, four mushroom bumpers, two slingshots, four drop targets, three stand-up targets, three rollover buttons, and a spinning target.

The backglass artwork depicts elements from the Star Wars movies: the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, and TIE fighter spacecraft. Also depicted is a lady with an unusual helmet seen previously on the backglass of Gottlieb's 1976 'Target Alpha'.

It is probably the first solid-state game by Playmatic.
