Overview
4-Belles is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine manufactured by Gottlieb. and released in October 1954. Boasting a production run of only 400 units, this rare woodrail era cabinet is highly valued by collectors. The game features a nautical and sailing theme, brought to life through a beautifully illustrated backglass.
The machine was designed by Wayne Neyens and features artwork by Roy Parker. In terms of gameplay, the table is equipped with two flippers, five pop bumpers, and five trap holes. To score high and win replays, players must navigate a sequence of challenges, which include lighting up side bumpers from 1 to 8 in numerical order, hitting A/B rollover lanes, or landing the ball into the distinct outside trap holes.
4-Belles is the final Gottlieb machine to ever utilize trap holes. It shares its internal playfield layout entirely with Gottlieb's earlier 1954 machine, Dragonette, meaning it lacks a traditional game-over relay or "balls played" lights, relying instead on a physical ball collect tray.
