Overview
Released by Williams Electronics in 1983, Firepower II is a 2-flipper, solid-state machine designed by Mark Ritchie, featuring a space-themed art package by Constantino and Jeanine Mitchell. With only 3,400 units produced, it is known for its fast gameplay, 2-ball multiball, 4 pop bumpers, and 10 standup targets.
Unlike its predecessor, Firepower II emphasizes a 2-ball multiball, where a lock saucer on the upper right allows for locking balls, followed by a center release target to start the mode. The machine is noted for utilizing repurposed backboxes from the 1981 Williams Hyperball. It is considered a solid, fast, and challenging "System 7" era game, though it lacks the voice synthesis found in the original 1980 Firepower.
