Lucky Hand

Overview

Lucky Hand is a single-player electromechanical pinball machine released by Gottlieb in June 1977, designed by Ed Krynski, with iconic 1970s artwork by Gordon Morison. It is highly regarded among collectors for its challenging card-themed gameplay and is the add-a-ball version of Gottlieb's Jacks Open. Only 610 to 626 units were produced, compared to 2,975 units for Jacks Open.

Lucky Hand and Jacks Open focus on skill-based shooting to complete card hands using a bank of 9 drop targets. Players must knock them down in progressive sequences: first two Jacks, then three Queens, then a full house (Kings/Queens), and finally a Royal Flush.

A later solid-state (electronic) remake using the System 80A platform was released in 1984 titled Jacks To Open.
