Overview
Released by D. Gottlieb & Co. in April 1964, the World Fair pinball machine is a single-player, iconic "wedgehead" cabinet designed by Wayne Neyens with artwork by Roy Parker. While its title was inspired by the contemporary 1964 New York World's Fair, the game's actual theme and art depict the 1893 Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition, famously home to the world's first Ferris wheel.
Players aim to light all 11 numbered cars. This is achieved by either landing the Spin-Disc on the numbers or by hitting the corresponding numbered rollover switches on the playfield. Lighting all 11 cars awards a "Special." Once lit, a moving light cycles through the rollovers; timing a shot to hit the currently lit rollover awards additional replays.
