Overview
Dragon Quest or a Twist in the Tail is a graphical text adventure for the 8-bit Atari computer. The king has come to power after the loss of his sister, the former regent. The player is tasked by the king to find his sister's lost magical pendant, the sign of the monarch's right to rule. He claims it was stolen when his sister was killed by a dragon during a hunting party. The king grants the player 500 gold, and tasks him with slaying the dragon. The player heads out into the wilderness, and must explore a number of locations, including an underground cave, an abandoned abbey, a perilous dungeon, and other dangers hidden in the woods. As the player explores, they learn that the new king has brought his kingdom to ruin, and that the princess has actually been transformed into the dragon. The player must struggle to restore the princess to her true form and regain her throne. All entries are via VERB NOUN entry. There are multiple inventory-based puzzles to solve. There is a save/restore feature available.
