Overview
I'd read a lot about home brewing, and decided to give it a try. I thought I'd buy a Chateaux Silver Soft Wine-making kit My first problem was gathering all the fruit. It's been years since I've ventured into the garden, and I didn't realise that things had become so overgrown! Perhaps the chemicals that! threw out from last years bio-engineering experiments turned that caterpillar into a man eater. Who knows?
Next problem. Sugar cubes. They used to be kept in a nice neat bag, but now..! They're scattered all over the larder, and to make things worse we seem to have guests in there as well. Funny place to keep a step-ladder too, but I suppose it did come in handy after I'd collected all the sugar. Anyway my next trip took me down into the cellar where the various pieces of equipment from Grandad's efforts were stored after he poisoned himself. The cellar should really be tidied up. It's almost impossible to see anything, let alone actually get hold of it... And it's full of extremely hungry bats.
The next weeks were spent carefully watching the fermentation process. I don't know who it was that kept leaving the windows open it was all I could do to keep them closed enough to get the temperature up again. The finished product took a long time to make; but the results were definitely worth it.
