Capitali$t Pig is a managerial simulation in which the player takes control over a business. The company name, the product name and the starting year (standard: 1901) is specified by the player. The playing field is an office building where the player places offices and hires employees. After setting the variables in the business plan (demographics of the target audience, production costs and world events), marketing plan (marketing costs, point of sale, advertising types and production position) and the financial plan (gross margin, insurance, cash flow and employee compensation) the simulation can begin. Time flows automatically forward, but it can be stopped or accelerated. While the simulation works, the player can view the balance sheet, listen to what the advisors have to say and change the variables in the three plans. Sometimes there are also unforeseen events to deal with. In addition to global events like war (which correspond to real-world dates), there are seven possible events, which range from fire to embezzlement to tax audits.
