Overview

Star Force Seven is a single-player strategy space exploration game. The last hope for survival of the Terran Empire in its war with the Zurgs is the expedition force Star Force Seven. His Imperial Highness, Justin II, has entrusted the player with leading the expedition. The goal is to explore the 26 planets of the Zurg Hegemony, conquer their planets, and to liberate those that have been enslaved, destroying the Zurg homeworld if possible. The player has 120 time units to complete their mission. At the beginning of each game the player creates their fleet from 200 logistic points, consisting of: battleships, cruisers, transports, scouts, and spy ships. The player then chooses which of 26 systems to visit, and a difficulty level from 1–5. The fleet possesses a central computer which allows review of ship status and intelligence on enemy planets. Scout ships can be sent to explore individual planets in a system while spy ships explore nearby star systems. Upon entering a star system the player can send scout ships to investigate the status of planets in the star system. The player can also navigate their fleet towards planets, or engage with any enemy ships that might be in the system. When engaging an enemy fleet, ships take turns firing upon each other, and the player can choose to disperse or concentrate fire. If circling a Zurg planet, the player can bombard the planet, or attempt a landing party. The landing phase consists of aerial combat and, finally, a ground combat phase.
