The 3.5 version of the game Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? Released in 1998, it is a revision of 1996's version 3.0. As in version 3.0, the player is assigned a case by ACME Detective Agency's director, The Chief, played by Lynne Thigpen from the PBS game show. The player then pursues the thief from country to country, following clues from witnesses to determine the thief's next destination and assemble a portrait of them to obtain a warrant. The player can seek assistance from ACME's Good Guides, who provide tours of the locations and verify the player's warrant. Additions from version 3.0 are a translator in the World Wiz Database; spoken greetings and farewells when entering or leaving a country; and the ACME Global Language Link-Up, a mini-game that appears in non-English-speaking countries to quiz players on words and phrases in the country's native language.
