Overview
The most notable updates and changes implemented in the 6th Style console release include:
* System & Gameplay Overhauls
- DJ LEVEL Rankings: This version introduced the iconic end-of-song letter grades ranging from F up to AAA based on your EX SCORE.
- HARD Gauge Modifier: Players could now select a stricter lifebar option. It removes the 80% clear requirement but makes health depletion far more punishing.
- EASY Gauge Modifier: Making its first console appearance alongside the HARD modifier, giving players more ways to tailor song difficulty.
- HI-SPEED 4: Speed options were expanded once again, introducing the faster HI-SPEED 4 modifier for the first time.
- On-Screen Artist Credit: The song selection screen was updated to explicitly display the artist names alongside the track titles.
* Console-Exclusive Content & Modes
- GALLERY MODE: This was the very first home version to feature an unlockable artwork gallery.
- Universal BEGINNER Charts: It stands as the only Japanese console game in the entire series where every single song on the tracklist features a custom BEGINNER mode chart.
- Tatsujin Movies: Included a feature to watch expert autoplay videos ("Tatsujin" movies) and view the full-screen background animations directly.
* Franchise Transitions (The "Lasts")
- Final "New Songs Collection" Subtitle: This was the final game in the franchise to use this specific home console branding.
- Arcade Mode Unlock System: It was the last Japanese console edition that forced you to play tracks in Arcade Mode to unlock them for Free Mode.
- The End of DRILL & LOW-SPEED Modes: This release marked the final appearance of Drill Mode and the "Low-Speed" modifier (which wouldn't return to the franchise for 13 years).
