Moorhuhn: Das verbotene Schloss

Overview

Single player:

The game requires completing individual levels one after the other, which are previously selected individually on an overworld map. All levels are played from a third-person perspective. The goal in all levels is to get from the beginning to the end of the level without dying, avoiding traps and enemies. Coins and trophies can be collected along the way. Each level has checkpoints, which reset you if you die. With its consistently linear paths and side barriers, the gameplay is strongly reminiscent of the first Crash Bandicoot games. You complete levels one after the other, with the themes of Forest and Ice and the Forbidden Castle. The levels are divided into four different subtypes, with approximately half of all levels being played with the Moorhuhn:

Moorhen:

These levels are played with the Moorhuhn and are all regular levels. The Moorhuhn is moved with the Wii Remote's control stick and can jump. It can also strike with a wooden hammer (by swinging the Wii Remote) or perform a Crash Bandicoot-like spin attack to defend itself against various types of enemies (snowmen, snakes, bats, etc.). You can also shoot enemies from a distance with a pumpkin-like seed cannon. The view then switches to an over-the-shoulder perspective. The Moorhuhn can also use large mushrooms for high jumps.

Moor frog:

These levels are played with the moor frog and are marked by a moor frog icon on the level map. You move only by jumping and must work your way from water lily to water lily across a pond to the end of the level. Using the Wii Remote's pointer function, you can point at enemies and eliminate them with the moor frog's tongue.

Toad:

These levels are played with Kröt and are marked by Kröt on the level map. Here, you, as a Moorhuhn, automatically move forward across the water on Kröt's back. Hitting an obstacle results in instant death. You can dodge obstacles or jump over them. Another important game element are the ramps, which allow you to make long jumps.

Battering ram:

These levels are played with the battering ram, which is marked by the battering ram on the map. Here, just like with Kröt, you automatically move forward across the land and must also avoid obstacles such as cliffs. You can jump and clear fences by dashing forward.

Multiplayer:

In multiplayer mode, two players can compete against each other. In split-screen mode, players complete the battering ram or toad levels from the single-player mode.
