Bob the Hamster

Overview

Bob the Hamster is an arcade game inspired by Mr. Do!. Each single-screen level consists of dirt, cabbages, and carrots. Dirt is removed as Bob - or certain enemies - walk over it. Cabbages are stationary obstacles that can be pushed, provided there is no dirt in the way. When pushed downward, they fall until encountering another dirt patch or cabbage. To complete the level, all carrots must be collected.

The game features enemies roaming the levels, which are lethal upon contact. These enemies exhibit different behavioral patterns; e.g. some actively chase Bob, while others lay traps. They can be eliminated by crushing them with cabbages or using Bob's long-range spit attack. However, the spit attack requires reloading time, and most enemies respawn quickly. The attack can be upgraded up to three times by collecting sunseeds, with a fourth upgrade - lasting until the next death -awarded after completing one of the bonus stages. These bonus stages present more challenging objectives compared to regular levels. Each level also contains a hidden extra life, and once all lives are lost, the game ends.

Players also have the option to play as Vlad instead of Bob. The core gameplay remains unchanged, but Vlad's levels and enemies differ. He uses a mechanically identical dagger attack. Additionally, item sprites are altered; for example, carrots become jewels, but their functionality stays the same.
