Overview

Across the Rubicon is a World War II based strategy game for the TRS-80 CoCo. The player controls American forces against their German opponent. At the beginning of each game, the player purchases units from a limited resource pool consisting of infantry, light tanks, heavy tank, fighters, artillery, and support units. All tactical commands are via the map window. Terrain, friendly, and enemy units are displayed here. The player can enter movement and attack commands for their units, and can order artillery strikes, parachute drops, and air strikes. The game ends when American forces have fallen to 40% strength or 24 victory points based upon German objective destroyed have been achieved. Game play is divided into several possible commands or menus. Intelligence report shows the strength and losses of friendly and enemy forces. Reinforcement or Replacement will either bring in fresh troops, or bring in troops from previously destroyed units. The player has a number of reserve points, which can be used to summon infantry reinforcements. Like units can also be merged when both are depleted.
