Overview

Inspector Francesca di Porta goes to Rome to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a couple that won the Italian lottery. Insider Tales: Vanished in Rome is the third entry in a series of hidden object games, where the main objective is to find and click on all the items listed at the bottom of the screen, on various locations around the city of Rome cluttered with assorted objects. In some scenes, the list is replaced by silhouettes of the objects. In the scenes with word lists, some of the items are stored in two inventory slots at the bottom-right, from where they can be dragged and dropped on specific places to perform an action or complete a task. Entries in blue only become available after successfully completing a mini-game or performing some necessary action. The hint button is a magnifying glass that shows the position of one of the required items, but takes some time to recharge after use. Some variations occur, where the cursor becomes a camera viewfinder and the goal is to take photographs of the screen portions shown at the bottom. In other instances, the list is replaced by a series of objects and the objective is to put all of them back to their correct places on the scene. Mini-games appear in a window at the center of the screen, after clicking on certain interactive hotspots. They are self-contained logic puzzles that can be optionally skipped after a few minutes, where the player has to assemble pictures, untangle lines of a constellation, play a game of Simon with chimes, move wood blocks in a box to create an exit path for one of the pieces, set tetrominoes pieces on a grid and complete other similar challenges.
