The 2006 edition in the Cycling Manager series simulates managing a cyclist team, from team rosters to individual planning, and now with various enhancements. The main game modes include Classic, Stage, Career and online multiplayer events. You train cyclists by creating schedules that get their fitness maxed out without exhausting them. Careful planning is needed, as preparatory races determine when riders will peak. Doctors need to be contracted to guide your team, and finances need to be secured at all times. Micromanagement allows for individual training, and specific helmets or bike frames. In the career mode, you have to earn the sponsor's continuing trust by achieving major objectives and by doing well in races where the sponsors expect good results. These challenges include having a rider in the top 3, being the leader for a few days or winning races. Next to the overall management, you also have to guide the cyclists during the race by providing food and drinks, keeping an eye on the heart-beat rates and taking strategic decisions such as planning sprints or protecting your lead cyclist when other teams attack to exhaust him. There are various camera perspectives to keep the overview. The game includes all major championships and tours, such as Le Tour de France, Supergiro d'Italia and Granvuelta a España, along with extra routes and climbs not present in the real tours. You can now create your own routes with the PCM stages editor, through the manipulation of xml files. More teams have been licensed for this edition, with the inclusion of T-Mobile, Quickstep and Française des Jeux. All Pro Tour squads are available, except for Discovery Channel.
