Overview
Bobby Charlton Soccer is a 1–2 player soccer game for the BBC Micro and Electron.
At the beginning of each game, players take on the role of manager, and set the stamina, skill, and accuracy of each of their 11 players. These can be ranked 1–5 for each player, and the total skill for all 11 players must not equal more than 99. The player then sets the time for each half, their player positions on the field, color, who goes first, and whether there will be a computer opponent.
During the match, the playing field is displayed over three separate screens from a side view. The player can individually move one of their players, usually the player with the ball if their team has it. The player can move in the four cardinal directions, and shoot. The player at any time can switch their active player on the field. Players can receive injuries during game play, and the ball can be lost of the player reverses direction too quickly. Standard rules for a ball out-of-play apply.
