Overview
The King of Fighters Special Edition 2004 is an unofficial, bootleg arcade fighting game rather than an official SNK release. Officially, SNK did not publish a mainline entry titled KOF 2004. Instead, this game is a highly advanced gameplay hack of The King of Fighters 2002: Challenge to Ultimate Battle.
The modification was developed by a Korean programming group known as Dragon to keep up the annual release rhythm of the franchise. While it occasionally circulated on rare, bootleg Neo Geo MVS arcade cartridges, it is best known in the emulation scene.
