Overview
Mega Turrican: Director's Cut is an aftermarket re-release of the Sega Mega Drive game Mega Turrican.
The Director's Cut version essentially turns the secret 1-2 level into a regular level, which was the inital developer's intention (as can be seen in the May 18, 1993 prototype) until Konami forced it to be turned into a secret level due to difficulty issues. Despite Konami dropping from publishing the game and the later Amiga conversion keeping it as a regular level, the level was still kept secret when Data East picked up the game for publishing, something the Director's Cut version finally restores back. It also broughts some other hidden/unused features like the carbonite Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario sprites present in the 1-1 level, which had been created for the game and featured in certain magazines during the development of the game, but end up being unused in the regular game (probably due to licensing issues).
This cartridge also features the regular release of the game and a Score Attack variant with a new level created from the ground up for this release, based on the first world.
