Overview
Heileen is an 18-year old girl who lost both of her parents early in life. In their stead, she was raised by her uncle Otto in the English city of Liverpool. Being a merchant, Otto has decided to make a trip to America in search for new opportunities, and is forcing Heileen to come with him, saying that the time has come for her to learn more about the world. Joining them is Marie, Heileen's childhood friend, Lora, Otto's mistress, and a whole cast of mostly grumpy sailors. Heileen: Sail Away is a visual novel detailing the adventures of Heileen aboard the Cat's Dreams, as the ship is called. While en route to America, the player converses with other characters, occasionally choosing a reaction or an answer out of several options. The choices determine how the love relationship with particular characters develops, and lead to one of the multiple endings. Additionally, there is a score system that rewards points for discovering and completing optional quests. Like everything else, the latter are also tied to making the right choices.
