Overview

One of the several video games based on Ryo Mizuno's fantasy novels, this version of Lodoss Tou Senki ("Record of Lodoss War") does not follow the main plot of the novels, but is instead dedicated to an important episode from the history of Lodoss: the battle of Six Heroes against the demon god. This is a strategy RPG with top-down navigation, world map, and randomly appearing enemies. The battles have a strategic edge, allowing the characters to move on the battle field freely. The battles take place on an isometric screen. Characters can also acquire unique abilities, such as for example Karla's ability to possess bodies of other people. The game features four distinct scenarios, each with a different protagonist and story: the first follows Karla the Grey Witch, who has the power to possess any body that wears her circlet and frequently jumps into new bodies as her scenario progresses; the second follows the warrior Beld, who carries a powerful but cursed weapon that is slowly draining his lifeforce; the third follows Fahn, an honorable knight who seeks a holy sword, shield and armor set; and the fourth and final scenario sees Parn, the hero of the original novels, setting out to defeat Karla and end her machinations once and for all. The first three scenarios occur just after the legendary battle of the Six Heroes against the Demon God, which in the series chronology happened 30 years before the events of the first book. The fourth occurs closer to the present.
