ASCII Invaders

Overview

ASCII Invaders is, as you might expect, an interpretation of the classic Space Invaders game using nothing but ASCII characters in text-mode. The gameplay is the same as the classic arcade game: Shoot the invaders and dodge their shots as they methodically move left and right as a group, slowly inching their way towards the bottom of the screen. (At least until the last few, when they start to speed up.) There is some animation here as well as some satisfying PC speaker sound effects. It also adds the feature of various types of "bombs" that can be used to clear away invaders, as well as removing the shields that are typically part of this sort of game. (The author notes that this game was programmed in using the Pascal programming language.)
