Overview

The story of Rurouni Kenshin takes place during the early Meiji era in Japan. It tells the story of a peaceful wanderer named Himura Kenshin, formerly known as the assassin "Hitokiri Battosai". After participating during the Bakumatsu war, Kenshin wanders the countryside of Japan offering protection and aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed as an assassin

Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Ishin Gekitouhen was released on November 29, 1996. The game is a 3D fighter game with 5 playable characters, while the plot focuses in the first seven volumes from the manga.

At the start, there are four options to choose from. If you just leave it alone, the first Rurouni Kenshin opening, "Sobakasu", will play.

GAME MODES:

1 - Story Mode: Play through the game following the events of the anime. Nice animated movies are shown between the battles to tell the story as it progresses. The first battle is against Sanza the Gangster (better known as Sagara Sanosuke). After beating him, the player can choose between Sano or Kenshin for the rest of the game.

2 - Vs. Player: Fight against another human player.

3 - Vs. Com: Fight against the computer.

The game features 33 unlockable movies & unlockable music tunes.
