Overview

Detana!! TwinBee ("Here Comes!! TwinBee") is the fifth installment in TwinBee-series, released for arcades in Japan in February 1991. The game would see European release in following March as "Bells & Whistles". This game debuts the pilots of TwinBee & WinBee, Light and Pastel, designed by Japanese animator Shujirō Hamakawa (SHUZILOW.HA) who'd go to be the primary character designer for following installment. The pilots journey to Planet Mel to save it from invading forces of evil alien Iva, after receiving an SOS signal from Princess Melora. A new charge-shot feature has been added to your basic arsenal - much like in previous installments power-ups and upgrades can be gained by shooting the colored bells that some enemies leave behind until they stay the color you want them to. A new purple bell powerup has been added that makes your clones ("funshin") impervious to projectiles, serving as a possible barriers. The game features single and 2-player cooperative gameplay.
