Overview
The Ancient Art of War at Sea is a naval combat simulation set in the age of sail and the sequel to the Ancient Art of War. The player commands a fleet of warships and engages hostile fleets under historical and fictional commanders, including leaders associated with the Spanish Armada, Caribbean pirates, and famous naval figures from the 16th through early 19th centuries.
The game presents a top-down strategic view of ocean maps where the player maneuvers fleets, manages engagements, and pursues objectives against an AI opponent. Ship types vary in speed, firepower, and crew, and tactical decisions include positioning vessels, engaging in broadside cannon combat, and attempting to capture or sink enemy ships. Different scenarios place fleets in varied historical and fictional naval theaters, and play unfolds in real time with adjustable game speed.
