Overview
Fire Emblem: Black Fang is a tactical role-playing game set in the world of Elibe, taking place immediately after the events of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and serving as a narrative bridge toward Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.
The once-infamous Black Fang, an elite guild of assassins who claimed to deliver justice to the corrupt - has been shattered. Its Four Fangs are dead, its leader exposed and slain, and its name disgraced after being manipulated into serving darker ambitions. In the wake of Hector and Eliwood’s campaign, the organization lies in ruins. Hunted, scattered, and blamed for atrocities they barely understood, the few surviving members are left to face a world that sees them only as villains.
The story follows this fractured remnant as they struggle to survive in a hostile Elibe. Former allies turn on them, rival killers seek to capitalize on their weakness, and noble houses move to erase what remains of the Black Fang. As the survivors confront their past and the truth behind their corruption, they are forced to decide whether the Black Fang’s creed of punishing the wicked was ever just - or whether it can be reborn into something better. What begins as a desperate fight for survival gradually grows into a revolutionary movement that challenges entrenched power across the continent.
Gameplay follows the classic Game Boy Advance-style Fire Emblem formula, featuring grid-based, turn-based tactical combat. Players command a diverse cast of units across more than 25 story chapters, carefully positioning them in battle while managing weapon advantages, terrain bonuses, and the series’ signature permanent death system. Characters can build support relationships to strengthen combat performance and unlock additional story conversations, further developing the themes of loyalty, guilt, and redemption.
Blending darker subject matter with moments of levity, Fire Emblem: Black Fang explores what happens after defeat, when legends fall, and only survivors remain to decide what justice truly means.
