SoftSide Adventure of the Month 18: The Dalton Gang

The Dalton Gang is the eighteenth in a series of monthly text adventures for multiple systems.

Newly arriving in a generic Western town, you have been elected sheriff my the mayor simply on the merits of showing up. At the start, the bank comes under attack by the Dalton gang, and in the ensuing firefight you kill two members. The remaining gang takes off with the mayor, and you must head out into the desert to rescue him. The player must purchase supplies and navigate the dangerous desert, finding water along the way, and avoiding vicious rattlesnakes. There, you stake out the Daltons' cabin, ambushing them as they leave. The Daltons flee, and Bob is captured deep in an abandoned mine, along with the mayor and the stolen money from the bank. The player must then return to town, locking up Bob Dalton and returning the stolen cash. Then, the player must disguise themselves and arrest Emmett Dalton, and lock him up as well.

All commands are via 2-word VERB NOUN entries, and game play contains several object puzzles. There is no save and restore feature.
